Title Infantry assault badge, silver
Nationality German
Period c 1939-45
Sold

This was the classic Third Reich infantry assault award. Criteria were to have taken part in three or more infantry assaults or armed reconnaissance operations, to have engaged in hand to hand combat in an assault position or to have participated on three separate days in the restitution of combat positions.

This is a die-struck hollow-pressed example, with virtually all of its original silver finish intact. The base metal is probably zinc, but could just be tombak, which would account for the fine silver finish remaining intact. On most zinc examples, the silver finish is only 50% extant through absorption of the silver finish by the base metal. There is no maker's mark.

I received the silver Verdienstkreuz this morning. Your swiftness and dedication was very much appreciated and, though the envelope arrived with a Post Office sticker saying it had been found open or damaged, the cross was unharmed and looks beautiful. Thanks for your time.

Thank you. I have received the bayonet. It is indeed in excellent condition and miracle! It fits my antique P53 perfectly.
