Title Hindenburg Cross, with swords
Nationality German
Period 1934
Sold

Instituted 13 July 1934 by President Hindenburg for all service personnel in WW1. Front line troops received the 'swords' type, other elements got it without swords, both in die struck iron with a bronze finish. Widows and parents of the dead got it in blackened iron. The reverse is maker marked 'AD.B.L.'.

It has its dark bronze patina with a little bit of minor discolouration to the front of the medal and there is also a small spot of minor rusting to the reverse. The ribbon is original and clean.

I received the item today, you had packed it well and there were no problems with customs. Overall I was happy with it although the blade was a little bit worse than I had imagined, however thank you for your efforts.

I am more and more pleased with the sword, and am wondering whether to do an article on it...
