Title Order of the Great Patriotic War, 2nd class
Nationality Russian
Period c 1944

I have two in stock, both in excellent condition with intact enamel and separate solid gold hammer and sickle pinned in to the frame of the medal. The 2nd model, as distinct from the 1st one which is suspended on a red ribbon, probably dates from 1944/45. They are all maker marked on the reverse and numbered by the Moscow Mint.

As a gallantry award, it was only given for WW2 for the destruction of a specific target (eg tank, aircraft) in combat. This medal should not be confused with the 1970 commemorative issue, which was given to all surviving Russian veterans of WW2. The comparison should be with an Iron Cross, 2nd class.

The numbers of the two I have in stock are: 734429 and 211660.

Having received the beautiful medal that has been the subject of many recent phone calls, I am absolutely delighted with it. More importantly, the research you provided into the military backgrounds of all those involved made it all the more poignant. Thank you for your highly professional and friendly help and advice throughout the transaction.

I am just dropping your company a line to say thank you for the 2nd WW Iron Cross, that my brother has purchased off your site Thursday evening. We received it 1st class today and it is in excellent condition. Many thanks again.
